This Blair Kamin article reports that construction has started on the Chicago Spire and this Blair Kamin article describes how the “core and outrigger†method of construction is expected to reduce the “wind-caused oscillation that can lead to whitecaps in toilets and swinging chandeliers†on the upper floors of skyscrapers. I have never encountered whitecaps in toilets. In my first job as a lawyer I spent time in a skyscraper which swayed in high winds. That took some getting used to.
