Lindbergh and Miller cite one study of team chemistry by an assistant professor of group dynamics at the University of Santa Clara which found that for good team chemistry you have to avoid “fault lines”, which Lindbergh and Miller interpret as analogous to cliques in high school.
I was reminded of one of Billy Martin’s rules for managing which is preserved here in wikiquote: “….keep the five guys who hate you away from the other five guys who are undecided.”
