THE DIVE BOMBERS AT MIDWAY.

THE DIVE BOMBERS AT MIDWAY. One of the earliest posts on this blog was this Thanksgiving post on the Battle of Midway which gave thanks to our soldiers in all our wars. Herman Wouk in WAR AND REMEMBRANCE listed the names of the three torpedo squadrons who did so much to win the battle and the War. I copied the list in the blog post.

Wouk tells how the torpedo boats distracted the Japanese fleet while the dive bombers destroyed all four of Japan’s large fleet carriers (wikipedia entry here).

Our local newspaper, the Darien News, published a story by Lynandro Simmons about one of the dive bomber pilots, George Walsh, who is 97 years old and lives in Darien.

The Darien News article said that he has started a blog about dive bombers and the war. Here is the link to it.
