THE ROMANCE OF WOLF TREES. Michael Gaige had an article describing and praising the ecological role of wolf trees. He says: “These are the trees of sprites and gnomes and enchanted woodlands. Wolf trees are our Ents.” I had posted similar thoughts here a couple years ago about long-lived trees that reminded me of “Treebeard and the other ents who play such a critical part in THE LORD OF THE RINGS—long-lived, tall, stately, loyal to each other….”
