SENDING TRAFFIC TO A STREET WITH A 32 DEGREE GRADE. I posted here about how “cities are constantly playing defense against the algorithms.”

Here is an article on Ars Technica by Cyrus Farivar about Baxter Street in Los Angeles which has a grade of 32 degrees, twice the maximum permitted today.

The street was described this way in 2003: “Unsuspecting motorists gasp when they reach the crest and discover the roadway in front of them has dropped out of sight and there is nothing but empty space in front of their car’s hood.”

Traffic is being routed to this street and there are a lot of accidents.
