“WHEN PRETTY GIRLS T-E-A-S-E-D MEN INTO MARRIAGE!”

“WHEN PRETTY GIRLS T-E-A-S-E-D MEN INTO MARRIAGE!” The answer to last week’s question (link here) is the 1940 version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, starring Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. I asked Mary Jane to characterize the movie and she said: “very romantic and lusciously of its time”.

The point is how bizarre the two slogans were in describing the movie. The two advertising slogans were: “WHEN PRETTY GIRLS T-E-A-S-E-D MEN INTO MARRIAGE.”
and “Bachelors beware! Five Gorgeous Beauties are on a Madcap Manhunt.”
