NOISY FISH. Nonny De La Pena has an article today about how much noise fish make. She points out that when Jacques Cousteau used the title “The Silent World”, his diving apparatus was concealing the sounds of the deep. Some 1200 species have been identified as making sounds. One researcher has identified a sound moving from fish to fish over a distance, and analogizes the phenomenon to the “wave” among spectators at a sporting event.
