UNHEARD TRAINS (COMMENT). Annalisa commented on yesterday’s post that she hears the songs of birds when she is trying to sink into sleep. My father was a commuter so we always lived near the train station. For a number of years, my bedroom was a stone’s throw from the railroad. I learned not to hear the trains. When she visited at the house near the railroad, my two-year-old niece Kirsten was terrified by the sound of the train, which was loud enough that she thought it was going to come after her through the walls of the house.
