DICK MORRIS: THE PRIMARIES WILL BE OVER BEFORE THEY BEGIN.

DICK MORRIS: THE PRIMARIES WILL BE OVER BEFORE THEY BEGIN. I always pay attention to things Dick Morris says because he has done politics successfully for so long. In this article (by way of realclearpolitics), he claims that the nominees for 2008 will be decided by national media coverage the year before. “The key for the candidates is to become the early front-runner and hold the position for the first three quarters of 2007. Once that is accomplished, the nomination is probably in the bag.” The only exception he finds to this proposition since 1960 is Nelson Rockefeller in 1964. This is a clearly stated proposition which it will be interesting to see tested.

Naturally, the front runner in the media coverage will be determined by Horse Race, and personality. It isn’t based on any actual policy or vision.

Fortunately the two most important states in the union – Iowa and New Hampshire – help to offset this process…

Dick Morris is awesome. I love it whenever I catch him on the radio. I’m looking forward to seeing the Clinton Machine go to work on taking out Obama. Sure, he’s all the rage now but ask all those once starry-eyed Dean supports what pre-primary buzz is good for.
