DID I MAKE A MISTAKE? (COMMENT). Dick Weisfelder and Carl Davidson both have commented that I made a mistake abandoning my lifelong desire to serve on a jury. Their arguments are persuasive, and I’m not sure I would make the same decision at another time. At this point in my life (age 71), I am making choices like this frequently. There are a lot of countries that I thought when I was in my twenties that I would visit. It seems now that some of them are far enough down my list that I won’t get to them. When I retired, I thought that I would be able to read all kinds of books. (I didn’t read long books while I was working). I have found that I don’t even have time to keep up with all the good books that are published each year. It’s a blessing that I have so many attractive opportunities that my opportunity cost for any one activity is high.
