DOCTOR WHO AS HAMLET.

DOCTOR WHO AS HAMLET. Mary Jane and I have been watching David Tennant as Doctor Who (Doctor Who is a “time lord” who travels through space and time. Tennant is the 10th Doctor Who in the British series, which began in 1963.) After watching Doctor Who, we have gone back to experience again the wonderful Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet with David Tennant. Having seen Doctor Who casts a different light on Tennant’s Hamlet. His Doctor Who has contemporary speech patterns and movements, and echoes of these give his Hamlet a suggestion of being a time traveler from the 21st century. There are new overtones to:

“The time is out of joint: O cursed spite,
That ever I was born to set it right!”
