UGLY RENAISSANCE BABIES.

UGLY RENAISSANCE BABIES. Lee Bryant sent me this link to the website Ugly Renaissance Babies. The name is self explanatory. Mary Jane started laughing the moment I mentioned the name of the blog to her because she knew what it would be about. The blog includes paintings by Botticelli, Giotto, Rubens, Durer, and other greats. One commenter pointed out: “it’s inaccurate to call this ‘ugly Renaissance babies’, because most of the images are from Byzantine/Medieval/proto-Renaissance periods.” The bloggers responded: “This is very true! Though, in our defense, a blog called “Ugly Byzantine/Medieval/Proto-Renaissance Babies” doesn’t really have the same ring to it.”

I also discovered a good blog for visitors in London while looking at the Ugly Renaissance Babies site. Readers can submit paintings, and one submission was from Mike Paterson, Director of London Historians. London Historians, as is explained here, is an organization devoted to the history of London. Here is their blog.
