BALLET AND BASEBALL. Mary Jane remembers Phil Rizzuto talking excitedly about the ballet. His wife Cora had taken him. Rizzuto was especially impressed by Nureyev and raved about what Nureyev could have done if he had become an outfielder. During his period as a ballet critic, Clive Barnes (an Englishman) went to a baseball game and reviewed it. One of his conclusions was that baseball and other sports had encouraged Americans to think that the most efficient movement was the most beautiful movement.
