ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOVERIES BEING MADE RIGHT NOW. One of the themes of this blog has been wonder that new discoveries continue to be made in history and in archaeology and hope that more remain to be made. Less than two months ago I posted here optimistically that: “A third of Pompeii (and most of Herculaneum) is still unexcavated….” I began that post: “I have rejoiced in both new archeological finds and in discoveries that there is more to be found.” If the science of ancient DNA holds up, things will be learned from thousands of years ago that seemed lost forever. And many discoveries will be made in 2019.
