HOW DID THE VIKINGS GET TO AUSTRALIA?

HOW DID THE VIKINGS GET TO AUSTRALIA? This find is the first time that any trace of a Viking presence has been found in the Indian Ocean. Professor Fletcher thinks it most likely that the route they took was around the Cape of Good Hope, “like Vasco de Gamma did centuries later”. Further, there is evidence of more extensive trading activities in Asia by either the Vikings or others. Although most of the objects were Norse, items from India, Sri Lanka, and China were found at the site. Barbara Johnson says that possible explanations of these items are that “the inhabitants of the site were either conducting piracy in the region or they were part of an extended maritime trade network.” Again, an issue of “raiders or traders”.
