THE MEERKAT AND JELLYFISH WEB CAMS AT THE MARITIME AQUARIUM IN NORWALK. The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk has been very important to our family. When Annalisa and Nick were younger, a highlight of each summer was the marine study cruise, a two and a half hour boat ride during which nets were put down at three different levels to bring up marine life—“critters”—from each level. Here is a description of the cruises.
There is a meerkat exhibit, where there is no need for habituation because the meerkats learn that they are protected by glass. Here is the webcam for the meerkats, which apparently is available only from 9:00 a.m. to 5:p.m. EST.

I still consider the Maritime Aquarium a must-see for out-of-town guests. I love it dearly. I’m interested in the new interactive butterfly exhibit that recently opened. Funny how the aquarium is gradually turning into a zoo…butterflies and meerkats can’t possibly qualify as aquatic.
