GERMAN OPINONS ON REAGAN AND SOCIALISM.

GERMAN OPINIONS ON REAGAN AND SOCIALISM. Rick Noack’s article was based on the statistical work of Die Zeit . The maps and graphs here show some dramatic differences between East and West.

*The first map shows the dramatic differences in income per capita which persist.

*The second map shows that the name “Ronny” is much more popular among Facebook users in the East (even though it never reaches 1% of the population). I take it this is due to the popularity of President Reagan.

Most interesting are the responses in the beliefs section to the question: “Socialism is generally a good idea — it was just executed poorly”.

Percent agreeing in 1991:

In the East….75.9%
In the West….39.1%

Percent agreeing in 2010:

In the East….72.8%
In the West….45.8%
