PRESIDENTIAL SPEECHES TAG CLOUD

PRESIDENTIAL SPEECHES TAG CLOUD. A few weeks ago I came across this tag cloud of speeches made by U.S. presidents throughout history. Speeches dating from John Adams in 1776 up to George W. Bush today have been analyzed and had tags applied to them. The more a president talked about a particular topic, the bigger that topic will appear. You use the slider to travel back and forth through time. Full texts are available by clicking on the speech title. What a goldmine!

Tag clouds are a big fad on the Internet right now. Flickr and Technorati use tags to let you see what people are photographing and blogging at a glance. This, however, is a much more interesting use. It’s great to be able to see the political zeitgeist of different eras this way.
