LITTLE ANNALISA’S MISTAKE ABOUT VETERANS DAY. This happened during the period when Annalisa knew her letters but was just learning to read. There came a time about this time of year when Annalisa made a major effort in cutting out red paper hearts. We asked her about this and she said that she wasn’t ready for Valentine’s Day.
“Valentine’s Day?”, we asked.
She led us to her calendar beside her bed, pointed to it, and said “See, Valentine’s Day is coming.”
We laughed and said, “oh, that’s so cute. That says Veterans Day, not Valentine’s Day.”
Then Annalisa uttered a line much-quoted in the family: “I don’t see what’s so cute about being wrong.”
