REPAIRING A TURTLE’S SHELL WITH LEGOS. This story by Kelli Bender in People magazine is about a turtle whose photo has received some of the attention that a photo of a cute kitten would get (photo at the link). An injured turtle found near the Maryland Zoo had multiple fractures on the underside of its shell. During the healing process, after surgical repairs have been made on the shell, the shell cannot touch the ground. A wheelchair has been fashioned for the turtle with a frame attached to his upper shell, freeing up his legs. The healing process will last until spring. In the meantime, the turtle is wheeling around the Zoo.
