Today’s Wall Street Journal has an article by Stacy Meichtry and Joshua Robinson that reports that many French soccer fans will be disappointed if France wins, but does not play a beautiful game. Winning is not enough, and there are those who deplore that France’s wins thus far were not aesthetically pleasing. The article quotes a “prominent soccer commentator” who says that: “If we become world champions, we’ll be the ugliest world champions in history.”
