THE FIRST TIME I WORE GLASSES. I was seven or eight when I got glasses for the first time. My brother got them at the same time. I remember the eye doctor saying when the decision to order glasses was being discussed: “The twins have been living in a little world of their own.”
So I anticipated that the glasses would enable me to move into a bigger and better world. I remember being disappointed when I first put them on that they didn’t seem to make any difference.
And then after about a week I noticed that when I took off my glasses, I couldn’t see very well. Since then, I am grateful for glasses every day.
