HOW LONG DOES THE AVERAGE PERSON LOOK AT THE MONA LISA? Ellen Gamerman, Inti Landauro and Liam Moloney had an article in the Wall Street Journal (May 29) about how crowded the major tourist sites in Europe will be this summer with the dollar being about 25% stronger against the Euro than it was last year. The article points out that up to 40,000 people a day look at the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. They also cite a study by marketing research consultants to the Louvre which determined how long the average person spends looking at the Mona Lisa. Taking account of how crowded it is, what would you guess?

The answer is: eleven seconds.
