COULD THE UNIVERSE HAVE NO BEGINNING AND NO END? The idea of a Big Bang suggests that it was the starting point of the universe. Almost simultaneously with the announcement that evidence of gravitational waves has not been found and that we do not in fact have information about what happened in a very small fraction of a second after the Big Bang, another paper has been published that provides a new mathematical model which says that the universe may have existed forever. Lisa Zyga describes the paper in this post on the phys.org site.
