The Urban Dictionary provides a measurement of how rapidly new words are formed in this country.If you go to the Urban Dictionary, you will see that as of 1:00 p.m. today the Urban Dictionary had added 7,076,518 definitions since 1999. The most recent was “smilezoned”. That means that the Urban Dictionary adds over 45,000 new definitions a year. Of course, not all of them survive.
