FLOPPING IS NOW BEING PENALIZED. I posted two days ago on the NBA’s penalizing players for dangerous plays in which a player in the air is knocked down. The league has now sustained the flagrant foul penalty that I posted on. I also said in the post: “Allen apparently grasped his head in pain, even though his head did not hit the ground. The NBA has announced that it is cracking down on flopping, but I haven’t noticed.” This article says that Tony Allen has now been fined $5000 for flopping on that play and that Derek Fisher, Jeff Pendergraph and J.R. Smith have also been fined for flopping in this year’s playoffs—an indication, perhaps, that there has always been a lot of flopping.
