THE COLOR REVOLUTION—TURKEY RED. The idea of a color revolution sheds some light on an incident from my past. In freshman year in high school back in the 50’s we had a few classes devoted to making our writing more vivid. One girl —a good and conscientious student—was subjected to ridicule for her short essay about packing for a picnic which featured somebody asking whether the “lime green jello” had been packed. In connection with the focus on providing detail, the teacher asked each girl in the class what shade of lipstick she was using. Almost every girl in the class was using ‘Turkey Red”.
