SPOONERISMS. Mondegreens remind me of Spoonerisms, although the mechanics are very different. Kids, this wikipedia article gives the history of the word.The article says that poor William Spooner, who had a distinguished academic career, claimed that “The Kinquering Congs Their Titles Take” (in reference to a hymn) was his sole spoonerism. I did not see in the article the example I have usually seen, also from a hymn: “Iceland’s Greasy Mountains.”
