CCR AND MONDEGREENS. One of the mondegreens cited in the wikipedia article on them is: “There’s a bathroom on the right”, which is based on the line at the end of each verse of “Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater Revival: (“There’s a bad moon on the rise”). RAB says she heard the line this way, and Nick says that he has encountered people who made the same mistake. CCR—or John Fogarty— may be responsible for other mondegreens. Repeated listenings to a passage from “Lodi” have never let me attach any English words to it. Nick says the line is: “Oh, Lord, stuck in Lodi again.”
