PENGUINS AND FLIRTATION. We have been delighted by the video of Cookie, the penguin who enjoys being tickled, but I also valued this video about the lady who filmed the tickling. The original video shows Cookie at his zoo interrelating with a zookeeper, and the lady who is interviewed on the second video also gives a glimpse of what life is like backstage at a zoo. My Uncle Walter, my mother’s brother, worked in the birdhouse at the Brookfield Zoo before World War II intervened, and I was able to imagine him dealing personally with the birds. I was also reminded of the time that Mary Jane and I were convinced that a penguin at the Frankfort Zoo was flirting with her. The penguin piled up some stones and looked her. She cocked her head.
