DEBATING THE SIZE OF THE STIMULUS PROGRAM TWO YEARS LATER. I’d like to make two points about today’s other post. First, there are Republican economists who use Keynesian analysis. Professor Cogan served in the Reagan administration and Professor Taylor served in the George W. Bush administration. Second, there is enormous disagreement over both the theoretical analysis and the magnitudes of any stimulus, but, as far as I could tell—and I looked pretty hard at the time—there was very little discussion or debate by economists reported in the press about the size of the stimulus packages at the time they were adopted.
