SELLING CANDY TO SMALL STORES. Back in the 60’s a friend told me about his summer job, which had some similarities to the Vicks training program, and, I think, was just as educational. He was selling to a similar customer base, small stores in rural areas. His product was a novelty candy. He said that he learned that his best sales came when he could persuade the owner’s son or daughter to try the candy. Most of the time the child would hate it, and the owner would be embarrassed and would buy a lot of the candy.
