DID A WRITER GIVE AWAY THE PLOT OF THE PERFECT CRIME HE WAS PLANNING? A friend called my attention to this article in the Daily News about the arrest and extradition of a man who once wrote a short story about a method of committing the “perfect murder.” He has been indicted for allegedly killing two women for insurance proceeds, using the method that he detailed in the short story. This earlier Daily News article gives some background. The medical examiner had not been able to determined the cause of death of the two women. The estate of one of the women had sued the writer alleging that her death resulted from “an overdose of norepinephrine, a method of murder which Perchikov described in detail in the short story.”
