“I’VE SEEN EQUUS. My mother had to confront the changes in society’s norms that came in the sixties and seventies. The turning point for her was when she and my father saw Equus in London, apparently in 1973. Equus featured a young actor and a young actress being naked on stage for an extended period of time. After that, whenever a subject in questionable taste arose, my mother would say: “It’s all right. I’ve seen Equus.”

We saw it in Stratford back in the 90s. It was a fantastic performance with Brian Bedford as the psychologist. I can’t think of a less pornographic nude scene.
