TWIN LORE. The article on the Bryan twins reminds me of some questions I am often asked. The Bryan twins are thought to have what their coach calls “the twin ESP thing”, which gives them an advantage as doubles players. Kids, Elmer and I never had a “twin ESP thing” (and we were often asked whether we did). When we played bridge, no flashes of insight. The Bryan twins turn around reflexively when one of their names is called. Elmer and I always responded in the same way. The Bryan twins have never felt a need to stress their differences; neither have Elmer and I. Almost 32, the Bryan twins haven’t spent a few nights apart since birth. Elmer and I were roommates until we were almost 26. Living in different cities turned out to be no big deal.
