FINISHING SENTENCES. Walt said in his e mail that he noticed on a video that the Starn twins finished each other’s thoughts and that that reminded him of my brother Elmer and me. I’m sure I did finish my brother’s thoughts, but it may not have been a twin thing. (I was always watchful to avoid speaking in unison with my brother, which was a twin thing.) I have to admit that I finish thoughts for a lot of people, as Mary Jane points out from time to time. I grew up at a dinner table where there was a lot of interrupting. I have a tendency to begin a sentence with a burst of sound and then trail off at the end. I attribute this to my early training. I would use a burst of sound to get the floor. I didn’t need to worry about finishing the sentence because I probably wasn’t going to get to do that.
