MEN IN BLACK—ONE OF THE TEN BEST MOVIES OF 1997? Men in Black came out in 1997 when Nick was ten. Nick claimed that Men in Black was the best movie he had ever seen. After I saw it, I announced that Nick might be right. A good plot, witty, with a great opening scene and a great closing scene. I told a friend who really knows movies how good I thought it was. She borrowed it and returned it with a note that consisted of one big question mark. I have decided that it is not the best movie I have ever seen, but that it should have been ranked as one of the ten best of 1997. From this listing, it looks like it didn’t get a lot of votes.

I agree. “Men in Black” is a sensational movie. (Just as “Men in Black, II” is definitely not acceptable.) The friend who returned the tape of the movie had clearly not watched very much of it before she decided she just couldn’t stand it. I wonder if she disliked it so much, she thought it was a practical joke on the part of Pater Familias.
