ONE HUNDRED PER CENT. Nick suggested that I post on this news story about a ruling in a Russian court that threw out a sexual harassment case on the grounds that, as the judge ruled, “If we had no sexual harassment we would have no children.” In the years since 1993, only two women have won sexual harassment cases in Russia. I was struck by something else in the article. It is rare to get one hundred per cent on any survey question. Here, the article says, “According to a recent survey, 100 per cent of female professionals said they had been subjected to sexual harassment by their bosses.” At a time in the United States when sexual harassment was in the news, a coworker and I asked a few women we worked with –admittedly, a very small sample–whether they had ever been subject to sexual harassment. They all said they had been–once only and on their first job. Predators attacking the vulnerable.
