WILFRED N. McCOY (COMMENT). I want to call attention to this comment from Janice McCoy, which seeks information about her husband’s grandfather, Wilfred Norman McCoy. She came across one of the first posts on this blog, a Thanksgiving post in which I copied out from WAR AND REMEMBRANCE Herman Wouk’s list of the heroic members of the three torpedo squadrons who, in Wouk’s words, “tipped the balance of history†at the Battle of the Midway. One of the names on the list is Wilfred N. McCoy of San Diego, California. I responded by e mail that I had no information, but then got out Wouk’s book, and responded further that Wilfred N. McCoy was one of 14 survivors from the torpedo squadrons and so could have been Janice McCoy’s father-in-law. Can anybody provide any help?
