LOCAL COLOR: BASIL, GRACE AND EDDIE. On my first trip to London, I was introduced in a pub to three Londoners, Basil, Grace and Eddie, and spent a very pleasant couple hours with them. A few years later, I found myself in London again and walking by the same pub. I went in, and there were Basil, Grace and Eddie. They remembered me after a little discussion. I remarked that I was lucky to find them there. No, said Grace, we’ve all been here every night for years, except for Eddie’s vacation every year.
