Will we stop using them?†I am sympathetic to words and numbers because they are all we have. Frank Ramsey was a great economist, statistician and philosopher who died in 1930 at the age of 26. Statisticians and mathematicians are still developing his ideas, as is described in this article. One of Ramsey’s observations is: “What we can’t say we can’t say, and we can’t whistle it either.â€
