MISTAKES IN ECONOMICS. Kids, here is a useful guide to four major errors in popular thinking about economics from Bryan Caplan. Caplan is also the author of THE MYTH OF THE RATIONAL VOTER: WHY DEMOCRACIES CHOOSE BAD POLICIES. The book argues that voters are irrational because of their mistaken beliefs about economics. The book should be juxtaposed with this book: WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS? by Thomas Frank, which argues that voters are irrational because they have the opposite economic views from Caplan. Both writers have to struggle with the fact that so many people disagree with them and are obviously wrong (of course, I agree with one of them on economics).
