MICROACCENTS (COMMENT). Dick Weisfelder commented on my post on New York accents that he once met a man who targeted within a block the home in the Bronx where Dick grew up. This was after Dick had spent sevral years living in Massachusetts. He met the linguist in Uganda. I love the reminder that even with mass communication and world travel, we still are shaped by the particulars of how we live.
