“A FLEA AND A FLY IN A FLUE”.

“A FLEA AND A FLY IN A FLUE”. My father grew up at a time (the early 1900’s) when many children were taught to memorize and recite poetry. As I posted here, my father would often recite verse at the family dinner table.

I believe that memorizing verse has great educational value, but I did not do it when I was young, and I am too old to memorize easily now. So I was pleased to discover that by repetition, I have recently memorized a poem by Ogden Nash. Here it is from the Poeticious website:

A Flea And A Fly In A Flue

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the fly, “let us flee!”
“Let us fly!” said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
