It turns out that there is an analogous proposal to remove the unfairness of the coin flip in the NFL. Rodger Sherman writes:….”the Quanbeck brothers, have proposed to the NFL a system in which one team would choose the field position to open overtime and the other team would choose whether to play offense or defense from that spot.
