BIG DATA AND ROTATOR CUFF INJURIES. The data collection program also identified that a frequent injury for ramp workers was a rotator cuff tear in the left shoulder. A focus on these injuries showed that workers were holding their baggage scanners in their right hands and using only their left arm to move bags. The solution was to have workers scan bags first and then use both hands to move bags. It seems that rotator cuff injuries for baggage handlers seem to result from wear and tear just as they do for pitchers.
