A COMPLETIST PREPARES TO DECLARE VICTORY.

A COMPLETIST PREPARES TO DECLARE VICTORY. I am a completist with respect to Shakespeare’s plays. I have posted from time to time as I checked off Shakespeare plays and got closer to the goal—Antony and Cleopatra, King John, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Henry VIII. I announced here after Henry VIII that I had only Coriolanus, Pericles, The Two Noble Kinsmen, and Edward III left to be seen. I have now decided to drop The Two Noble Kinsmen and Edward III from the list of plays I am targeting.

Mary Jane and I will be seeing tonight a staged reading of Corialanus, directed by Michael Sexton and sponsored by the Red Bull Theater and the Shakespeare Society. In the next couple weeks we will be seeing Pericles, produced by the Theatre for a New Audience and directed by Trevor Nunn.

And then I will be complete.

Hey Philip! I’m a high school classmate of yours and Elmer’s. Our circles otherwise never came near, much less intersected. I hope you and your brother are doing well.

The reason I’m writing is to find out if you and Elmer are younger than me. I’ve often thought I was the youngest of our classmates, but a friend mentioned he thought you were. My birth day is Oct. 8, 1942. Just curious.

BTW, from your blog I see one of your interests is boxing; If you haven’t seen the documentary “Facing Ali” I highly recommend it. Best regards, Gary Keller

You’re younger than we are. We were born on June 4, 1942. I doubt there would be many in the class who were younger than you.

Ali is one of my heroes. I will put the movie on the long list of movies we really have to see.
