“THIS AGED WOMAN….”

“THIS AGED WOMAN”….” I think there’s another reason besides the possible usefulness of Grace’s naval forces for Elizabeth’s decision to grant Grace’s petition. In 1593, Elizabeth was 60 and Grace was 63. In her decision, Elizabeth referred to “…the pity to be had of this aged woman….”
