YET ANOTHER PLEA FOR CONTESTED CONVENTIONS.

YET ANOTHER PLEA FOR CONTESTED CONVENTIONS. The Iowa and New Hampshire votes for the presidential nominations are coming up, and Jeff Greenfield has an article here waxing bemoaning the loss of contested conventions. I have had a number of posts, beginning here in January 2007, which have also bemoaned the the lack of contested conventions. In 2007 I quoted Michael Barone that: “….The process gives too much power to Iowa and New Hampshire.” And here we are again.

Greenfield singles out the media as one group which would love the excitement of a contested convention. I think that whichever party in the probably distant future winds up with a fight at the convention will be happily surprised with the attention that is drawn to its candidates.
