TAKING LONGER THAN 11 SECONDS.I was surprised that people on average look at the Mona Lisa for only 11 seconds.. In this post on LEGOS AND CONCEPTUAL ART, I said: “A lot of conceptual art bears only a few moments of looking. If you watch people at an exhibit of conceptual art, they will glance at a work for a few moments, take in the concept and move on.” However, as I acknowledged in this post, I like to spend a lot of time looking at only one or two paintings in each room I visit, and it seems to me that there are a lot of other people who linger over art. I guess there are also a lot of people who look at the Mona Lisa the way they look at conceptual art.
